Alana's Birthday!

I can't believe she's one! Here are some pictures from her special day and her party!

Some very cool sunglasses arrived in a package from DC

Woke up from a good nap, I think she looks like me!

The delicious cupcakes, carrot-cake! Yum!!

Hanging out with Willa before the party.

Getting help from Mom & Dad on the First Cupcake!

Going to town!

Practicing her walk post-party! That night she slept for 13 hours, whoa did she have a lot to recover from!

Garden update...5-18

I've planted the zuccini, cucumbers, and chives, and got some flowers too! Going to add some tomatoe plants to the mix tomorrow or the next day!

I wonder if I put the hills to close together? We'll see when the plants start growing! They go in this order from right to left, zuccini, yellow squash, cucumbers...with the chives in the small bottom left corner, the tomatoes will hopefully go along the left-hand side.

Added some flowers around the bird house/feeder...hopefully they'll come back next year!

And the newest addition to our family...oh my! I've cut the lawn once, and will need to do it again later this week b/c of rain...if only we had all the goats that Uncle Alan and Aunt Connie have! No need for gas powered machinery.

Mother's Day! May 11, 2008

Chris: What would you like to do for Mother's Day?
Joan: Go to the beach!

It was a very pretty drive out to Hampton Beach, we arrived around 10am and stayed for lunch! It was a lot of fun, and so beautiful. Here are some photographs documenting the fun day. It was Alana's first experience with sand, we kept the paci in to keep the sand out!

Getting nourishment on the walk!

First we went on a walk along the beach, from one end of the "boardwalk" to the other and even made it to Little Jacks by the sea wall. Here we are on the way to ? I can't remember what that area up ahead was called...have to ask Chris.

We gave Alana a bucket and shovel and showed her how to get to work!

The bucket was way cooler than the camera.

Gorgeous surf to look at and listen to!

Having fun tumbling sand towers, doesn't make as much noise as her wooden blocks.

Last look at the ocean, it was a breezy 60 degrees, there were a few brave souls in the water though! Happy Mother's Day!

Back at home we played with the pansies on the deck.

Happy Birthday Shawn!!

Gardening!

Inspired by my Uncle Alan and his eco-farming (read all about it here http://www.robertsroostecofarm.com/) , I got to digging the other day. I am so excited to have a space that I can call a garden and not worry about encroaching on the dogs territory! So here are some pictures, it's got to get a bit bigger for everything I want to plant, zuccini, cucumbers, squash and tomatoes. There will of course be some sunflowers as well! I'll try and keep updates coming.

My only problem so far has been rocks! Finding big ones! and having to haul them out of the dirt is quite a bit of work, especially when working during Alana's naps!

Ciao

Cinco De Mayo!

A lot has happened in the month I haven't been posting...we had two great weeks of lovely spring weather, then got some much needed rain! and I took a couple of pictures along the way! Enjoy and Happy Cinco De Mayo!!

Go Nats!

Yes, a whole case of Gold Star Chili arrived. Chris is in heaven...that's $60 of chili folks....

Patriotic Mena!

Out for a stroll in the park.

And we had a small brush fire in the woods very close to our house...thankfully the fire fighters were great and had it under control. Just a good reminder to everyone about cigarettes and burning brush...not a good mix...they still don't know what caused it...
